What are microneedling and radio frequency (RF) microneedling?

Microneedling and radio frequency (RF) microneedling, are both safe and effective procedures that can improve the appearance of the skin by stimulating the body’s natural collagen and elastin production through micro injuries created on the treatment area using a microneedling device like SkinPen, or an RF device like Morpheus8. They are both versatile treatments that can address a wide range of skin concerns and provides long-lasting results.

Radio Frequency Microneedling uses the same needles and micro injury process as microneedling, but also delivers RF energy into the skin. The RF energy heats the skin, which stimulates additional collagen and elastin production and helps the skin tighten. This can lead to faster, more dramatic, and longer-lasting results than traditional microneedling. RF microneedling is often used to treat more extensive skin issues like deep wrinkles and severe acne scarring.

Depending on your skin conditions and goals, both are very effective options.

What does microneedling radio frequency (RF) microneedling do?

Reduces wrinkles and fine lines

Improves skin texture and tone

Treats acne scars and stretch marks

Stimulates collagen and elastin production

Enhances the absorption of topical products.

How does microneedling radio frequency (RF) microneedling work?

Microneedling radio frequency (RF) microneedling are minimally invasive procedures that use specially designed devices with fine needles to create micro-injuries in the skin. This stimulates the skin’s natural healing process, which can tighten skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scarring. RF microneedling has the added feature of using radio frequency energy to the skin in addition to the normal microneedling process.

What can I expect?

While the effects of microneedling can be dramatic, it is a more aggressive skin care process. Many feel it is mildly abrasive on the treatment area for some folks. During the microneedling procedure, your skin could turn red and tight. Before beginning treatment, your aesthetician will administer a topical numbing cream.

You may also notice your skin is irritated for a few days after treatment as well as some peeling and flaking could occur.

Within two to four weeks, the benefits of microneedling will be apparent.

The effects of microneedling might continue for up to six months, depending on your skin type and depending on your goals/conditions the procedure may need to be repeated.
